I won! I won! Woot Woot!
Today we had our summer party for work. Once a year we have a catered lunch. This year we had barbecue chicken and ribs, fruit, salad, potatoes and brownies or ice cream sandwiches. After the party is over, we get to leave and go home for the rest of the afternoon (paid time off!). We always look forward to the summer party. The last part of the party is the giving of prizes. This year my name was called as a winner! Guess what I won? An UGLY STIK! Hahaha. I had no idea what that was. It's a fishing pole. No, I don't fish. But I won! I won an Ugly Stik! Not many people could say that!

My Ugly Stik...which I will probably take back to the store and trade in for something else. |
Moving on to other gifts.

Given to Lyle on Father's Day |
Father's Day was Sunday. This never hits me as hard as Mother's Day (thankfully), but it does make me a bit sad that I can't give my husband a child. Even so, Lyle is a good father and I love any opportunity to give him something. This year for father's day, Lyle decided he wanted some new pants as his gift. You have no idea how thrilled I was! Lyle almost never buys clothes for himself, even though I randomly nag him about it. We bought him 3 new pairs of pants and I even found some shirts he likes! I was almost rapturous over new shirts. He drives me nuts with his unwillingness to buy or let me buy him some new shirts. Half of the shirts he owns are old and have logos from former trucking companies he's worked for. But they still fit and they're comfortable. The shirts I really don't like are the ones that have holes in them that he refuses to get rid of! He still even wears them in public sometimes (shudder). Anyway, back to the point, Lyle allowed us to buy him 3 new shirts as well (on the condition that with his new replacements, he gets to choose which shirts to get rid of...drat! Oh well, I guess I can't have everything.). All in all, a successful giving of gifts for Father's Day- Did I also mention that Lyle is VERY hard to figure out gifts for? He never wants ANYTHING. It's so frustrating- and I was very pleased with the results.
Another gift I received was a couple of days ago. Lyle brought home these:
The reason: I went to pick up Annie on Tuesday which is our night with the kids. I do this pretty often, so really, he was buying me roses for no reason. I am so happy! What a big cuddly sweetheart! Though I wouldn't advise you to call him that. I'm not sure he'd like it. At least from anyone other than me.
