Mini Vacay

My husband is so great!  I've been stressed out lately so I asked him if we could go away for the weekend.  He agreed.  We went to Brigham City.  We got a hotel room for a couple of nights.  We got up there Friday night in time to go to bed basically.  And honesty, Saturday morning didn't start out really great.  I woke up feeling sick.  I got myself up and going and we went to Promontory to the Golden Spike historical spot.  Once we got there I started feeling worse.  I feel really bad because we paid $7 for me to be sick in the visitor's center bathroom for most of the 40 minute reenactment they did of the ceremonial tapping in of the golden spike to complete the transcontinental railroad.  Thankfully Lyle took pictures.  Afterwards I had to lie down in the back of the car while Lyle took me back to the hotel.  Because I was feeling sick, we missed the session we were going to go to at the Brigham City temple.  We'll have to try for that another day.
Here's me standing on the other end of that same rocket.
Gives you an idea how big it is.
Here's Lyle grunting while holding up a rocket!
Talk about Man of Steel!
Thankfully, after I rested for a little while I felt a lot better.  We ended up going to eat at Maddox.  I debated between getting a turkey steak (which is what I ended up with and which was really good) or bison.  They have really good homemade rolls and corn pones with their famous raspberry butter.  I also had a sassperilla (yum!).  We ended up going to see Man of Steel which I've been wanting to see and which Lyle has been avoiding for the same amount of time.  I'm glad he took me.  I loved it and he even said it was better than he expected.
Today we ended up going by Thiokol and stopped to see their rocket display.  It's interesting how many parts for the space shuttle and for missiles for the armed forces are made here in Utah.
The Spiral Jetty
The pink water of the Salt Lake.
Supposedly it's pink because of the brine shrimp?

We also went out to see the Spiral Jetty in the Great Salt Lake.  I hadn't heard of it before.  It's a huge spiral built of rocks that some guy built a long time ago (vagueness, thy name is Laura).  I really don't know much about it, but it was really beautiful and the water was nice and cool.  But the salt on my feet made them itch afterwards.  Ah well, it was still a really nice weekend.  What a nice short getaway.  Then we get home and the phone's ringing and there's problems to solve and I want to get in the car and leave again.  I'm just glad we enjoyed our weekend together.
